Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair, and Painting

Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair, and Painting training should be taken on an annual basis by construction workers and building maintenance staff; training is required per the OSHA code 29 CFR 1926.1001. This training module is designed to provide an overview of asbestos and its associated hazards. It is important for employees who work in construction or building related maintenance to know where Lead is likely to be found and how to avoid exposure.

Learning Outcomes:

The Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) training equips renovation and maintenance professionals with essential lead-safe work practices. Participants will learn to identify lead hazards in pre-1978 housing, implement containment and cleanup techniques, and comply with federal regulations. The course covers proper worksite preparation, safe renovation techniques including painting, removing, and drilling and effective communication with property owners. Students will also develop skills in regulatory compliance, documentation, and worker safety. 

Completion Requirements:

  • 100% appearance for the course
  • Fully involvement in all class trainings (determined by instructor)
  • Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
  • Completion of mandatory quiz assessments
  • As applicable, attainment of least passing score on required end-of-course examination
  • Participation and submittal of end-of-course assessment form (must provide name on form to obtain credit)
Students may request IACET CEU credit upon successful completion of the course, provided all required criteria are met. This option is available for those who wish to receive official recognition of their continuing education.
