Infection Prevention and Control
The goal of the infection control training requirement is to: 1:Assure that licensed, registered, or certified health professionals understand how bloodborne pathogens may be transmitted in the work environment: patient to healthcare worker, healthcare worker to patient, and patient to patient 2: Apply current scientifically accepted infection prevention and control principles as appropriate for the specific work environment 3:Minimize opportunity for transmission of pathogens to patients and healthcare workers Familiarize professionals with the law requiring this training and the professional misconduct charges that may be applicable for not complying with the law

Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of the course work the learner will be able to:
a. Recognize benefits to patient’s healthcare workers of adhering to scientifically accepted principles and practices of infection prevention and control
b. Recognize the professional’s responsibility to adhere to scientifically accepted infection prevention and control practices in all healthcare settings, and the consequences of failing to comply
c. Recognize the professional’s responsibility to monitor infection prevention and control practices of those medical and ancillary personnel for whom he or she is responsible and intervene as necessary to assure compliance and safety
Completion Requirements:
- 100% appearance for the course
- Fully involvement in all class trainings (determined by instructor)
- Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
- Completion of mandatory quiz assessments
- As applicable, attainment of least passing score on required end-of-course examination
- Participation and submittal of end-of-course assessment form (must provide name on form to obtain credit)
